Book Review – The Forsaken Crown by Christina Ochs

This is a fantasy story that has a strong female lead who doesn’t mess around. She isn’t over the top, either. Plenty of times an author will choose a character’s role and have them be completely that. Sonya is experienced and driven, but she is not a superhero. Since she is wronged, it is easy to side with her as the good girl and puts us at odds with the bad girl. Sonya isn’t a young adult story where she wanders around aimlessly seeking her destiny only to have it shoved down her throat. She does not sit there indecisive wondering what she should do. She is a strong character who knows what she wants and what she believes. These are the fun things that can happen in a new adult fantasy series.

I have tried to think of bad things about this book, but I just can’t find any. The initial hook is really good and several of the initial chapters keep pulling me forward. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
